Consistent Training and Focused Development
Jakob had another positive week of karate, maintaining a consistent training schedule through regular sessions at his dojo in Abingdon. This week placed greater emphasis on kumite, supported by additional gym training focused on building strength. All sessions form part of a coaching programme specifically designed to support Jakob’s ongoing development.
First Competition of the Year
On Saturday, Jakob competed in his first competition of the year. Strong performances were seen throughout the event, with Jakob progressing confidently through his rounds before exiting at the final eight stage. Although the result was not what we had hoped for, the competition provided valuable experience and an important opportunity to sharpen competitive focus.
Competing Independently
Jakob was entered into the competition by JDB Sports and attended independently, without teammates from his dojo or members of the national squad. This added an extra challenge, and credit must be given to Jakob for stepping onto the tatami alone and delivering a solid performance as he continues to build momentum for the season ahead.
Advanced Training in Milton Keynes
Following the competition in London, Jakob travelled to Milton Keynes for further training. These sessions are more exclusive, involving a select group of athletes committed to pushing their development further.
Looking Ahead
There are many positives to take from this week, and the focus is to continue working and preparing for upcoming competitions later in the year.
