Sunday football is honestly the best part of my week. After all the karate training from Monday to Saturday, getting out on the pitch with my mates is just different. It is fun in a completely different way.
I train karate Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and then PT on Saturday. That is a lot. My legs are tired by the end of the week and my brain is always thinking about kata or kumite or what I need to work on next. But Sunday mornings? That is when I just get to be a normal kid playing football with my team.

Why Football Helps My Karate
People sometimes ask if football gets in the way of my karate. Honestly I think it helps. The footwork, the quick thinking, staying light on your feet. It all transfers. And it keeps me fit in a different way. Plus I actually train football before my kumite session on Wednesdays too, so it is all connected.

The best thing is that it is just fun. I do not have to think about technique or stances or judges. I just run around and try to win with my teammates. That feeling of being part of a team like that is really nice when most of my karate training is individual.

I Love This Routine
Right now my routine is pretty full on. Six days of training plus football. School in between. It sounds like a lot and it is. But honestly I love it. I do not want this routine to end.
There are days when I am tired and my legs feel heavy. But then I get out there on a Sunday morning with the fog still hanging over the pitch and I just forget about being tired. The cold air wakes you up pretty fast.

I think that is why it works. Karate is my passion and my goal. Football is where I just have fun and be normal. Both things make me better.
