My little brother Nicholas is going for his black belt grading on the second of August and I am so proud of him. Watching him train and prepare for this moment has been amazing. He has put in so much work and I cannot wait to be there to support him.

People do not always realise how much goes into a black belt grading. It is not just about knowing your kata or having good technique. It is about showing years of commitment, discipline, and respect. Nicholas has been training hard for a long time and he is ready.
Being There for Family
I know what it feels like to stand there before a grading. The nerves. The pressure. Wanting to show everything you have learned. So being able to be there for Nicholas on his big day means a lot to me.

Karate is something our whole family is involved in. Dad is always there filming and supporting. And now I get to be the big brother standing on the sidelines cheering Nicholas on. It is a different feeling but a really good one.
The Same Journey Different Paths
Nicholas and I both love karate but we are different in how we approach it. Watching him grow as a karateka has been cool. He has his own style and his own strengths. I think that is what makes martial arts special. Everyone finds their own way.

On the second of August I will be there in full support mode. This is his moment and I want him to feel like everyone believes in him. Because we do.
The Journey Continues
While I keep training for Brazil and the JKS World Championships our family is busy with more than just my journey. Nicholas earning his black belt would be massive and I really hope everything goes well for him.
If you want to follow along with my own journey to Brazil and help support my training you can find our GoFundMe here: gofundme.com/f/support-young-karateka-jakob-de-brum. Every bit of support means so much to me and my family.
