Jakob Proud to show his beonze medal
Competing in the 3rd kyu+ kata category, he delivered a series of sharp, focused performances to earn a well-deserved bronze medal. His kata showed clear progress—strong stances, good timing, and growing confidence under pressure.
What stands out most is the mindset. Taking both the wins and the setbacks, and using them as fuel to improve. That’s where real growth happens.
In kumite, it was a tough match. His opponent was simply better on the day, and unfortunately Jakob didn’t progress further in that category. That said, this is all part of the journey—learning to reset, reflect, and come back stronger for the next one.
All of this is part of the preparation for Brazil, where he’ll be facing dojos from around the world. Every competition adds experience, every challenge highlights areas to sharpen, and every performance builds resilience.
Â
Training doesn’t just happen in the dojo—it’s the work outside, the discipline, and the willingness to keep improving that makes the difference.
