Nine years in.

Jakob put on his first gi at Can Do Martial Arts in Abingdon (now JKS Abingdon) when he was five years old. He had no idea what that first class would lead to. Neither did anyone else.

Nine years later he is a World Champion and a member of the JKS England Squad, with European medals, two world golds from Brazil, and a story still unfolding session by session.

This site documents the journey — the early mornings, the hard rounds, the nerves before competition, and the gradual progress of a young athlete building his future.

Brazil. 2026.

In August 2026, Jakob competed at the 7th JKS World Shoto Cup & Para Cup in Vitória, Brazil — one of the most prestigious youth karate competitions in the world.

He came home with Gold in Individual Kata and Gold in Team Kumite (12–13 years). Thank you to every sponsor, donor and supporter who helped get him there.
